UMass Dance Program Hosts Virtual Senior Recognition Ceremony

The Dance Program’s senior recognition online event was held on May 8. Hosted by program director Tom Vacanti, it included short statements from all 17 graduating seniors.  Robert Lynch ‘71, CEO of Americans for the Arts, and award-winning choreographer David Dorfman, as well as dance faculty, shared their personal insights and congratulations.

Frederick C. Tillis, Renowned Composer, Performer, Arts Administrator, Dies at Age 90

Dr. Frederick C. Tillis - composer, performer, poet, educator, and arts administrator - died Sunday, May 3 at age 90 due to complications following hip surgery. In addition to being professor emeritus in the Department of Music and Dance, Tillis was also director emeritus of the UMass Amherst Fine Arts Center and co-founder and director emeritus of the Jazz in July program.
