Our Progress
We have continued our forward momentum and consistent investment in efforts to improve diversity and inclusion across the campus community. Our institutional goal is to establish UMass Amherst as a community of choice for students, staff, and faculty that exemplifies the power of diverse perspectives and mutual respect.
Since OEI's inception in 2017, we have launched a number of major initiatives such as the campus climate survey, climate improvement grants, learning communities, community conversations, resources to forward the success of our underrepresented communities, enhancing diversity education in the classroom, and more.

ADVANCE Program
With the $3 million grant from NSF, an interdisciplinary team from four UMass Amherst colleges will focus on using collaboration as a tool for fostering equity for women and male faculty of color in science and engineering fields.

UMass Amherst Response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The university’s previously announced policy that “only onsite personnel should report to campus, unless contacted by a supervisor” will remain in effect until the university examines the Governor’s latest guidance and determines the campus’ approach to next steps.

CEE Launches Case Study Series Examining Diversity and Inclusion Policies
Yhe University of Massachusetts Amherst Center for Employment Equity (CEE) has launched a new series of case studies designed to explore the business rationale and goals of companies when adopting inclusive policies and practices.

ADVANCE Collaborative Research Seed Grants Announced
Funded seed grant projects will contribute to the mission of the NSF ADVANCE program, which is advancing women faculty, including women faculty of color, in science and engineering. Collaborative teams will receive a one-year grant of up to $15,000 and logistics support from the ADVANCE team.
